London, December 25, 2021 - In a shocking revelation, Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II has been secretly operating a cryptocurrency mining operation in the Palace's basement.

The Queen's spokesperson issued a statement saying that the Monarch became interested in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency over the past year. "Her Majesty found the prospect of mining her own digital currency too fascinating to resist," the spokesperson said.

The Palace has refused to disclose which cryptocurrency the Queen has been mining, but sources suggest it is either Bitcoin or Ethereum. "The electricity costs of running the massive mining rigs have been quite substantial, hence the secrecy," stated the spokesperson.

Rumors of the strange noises and excessive cooling equipment needs in the Palace basement had long puzzled staff, but all became clear when the spokesperson confirmed the underground mining operations. "The Queen did not wish for her hobby to be a distraction, so she kept things discreet," they said.

Though the initial investment has paid for itself many times over, the Queen will be relinquishing control of the mining rigs to focus on her royal duties. The crypto profits will be donated to charities supported by the Royal Family.

Buckingham Palace expects this revelation to attract quite a bit of attention and questions from the public and crypto community alike. However, the Queen's spokesperson was firm in stating that the mining operations have now concluded, and the Monarch will not be discussing cryptocurrency any further. The Royal Family thanks the public for their understanding and support.

God save the Queen!
