Pope Announces Second Coming of Jesus Next Week

December 24, 2020 - Vatican City
In a shocking announcement today, Pope Francis revealed that the second coming of Jesus Christ will occur next week. The Pope declined to provide an exact date for the heavenly event, but said the second coming is "imminent" and will fundamentally transform the world.
"For 2000 years we have awaited the return of our savior, and that day is nearly upon us," the Pope proclaimed in his Christmas Eve address before the packed St. Peter's Square audience. "Christ will reignite the earth with wonder, joy and the promise of eternal salvation for the faithful."
The speech has sent ripples of terror, delight and skepticism through global Christian communities and religious leaders worldwide. Some born-again Christians have begun preparations to be "raptured" to heaven, while secular scholars question the credibility of such an extraordinary claim lacking any evidence.
The Pope urged calm and unity in the face of skepticism and doubt, demanding vigilance, faith and morality in the coming weeks. While refusing to speculate on any signs that may portend the second coming, he insisted that believers will know Jesus when he returns as "the dawn breaks on a new day without end."
The implications of the Pope's speech are enormously significant, though difficult to fully comprehend. If accurate, next week may mark the culmination of history and resurrection of the dead as foretold in religious prophecy. However, should December 31 arrive without heavenly event, the speech may be seen as an embarrassment or misjudgment, further damaging the prestige of the institution.
Faith and doubt now walk hand in hand toward an uncertain future. Until the final day, the truth remains held within the realm of faith, not proof. A world transforms, ready or not, for a rebirth as yet foretold. And so we wait.
